Jan and Bruce had invited us to join them for a picnic. Jan went to Thailand with us earlier this year and wanted to spend time with the kids again. She prepared everything and told us to just show up. The kids did not eat much at all since they were so excited to be outside and because "the lunch bucket" that Jan prepared for them was so awesome: sandwich, apple juice, lollipop, squeaky duck, etc. After we finished lunch, we took the kids to the playground and let them play in the sand with their new buckets and shovels. Jan and Anya built sand castles. It was getting hot, so we decided to walk the Black Creek Greenway.

At one point, we stopped to let the kids play in the water at one of the rocky parts of the creek. A girl who was there when we arrived informed us that there were several snakes – copperheads and water moccasins – sunning themselves on a fallen tree over the creek. We kept the kids on the other side while David and Bruce got a closer look at the snakes. David was able to get close enough to take a few pictures of them. As you can see from the picture, one was a pretty good size. We ended up finding a total of seven snakes in a around that spot.

We had so much fun, especially the kids. We were there from 12.30-4pm and the kids did not show any signs of tiredness, well, at least not until the end…they were both asleep within 5 minutes of leaving the park!
Love,
David, Riot, Anya and Aden
