This 4th of July, we went to Washington, DC for their famous fireworks display. We teamed up with the Juntimas, who are always great hosts. We started our long day at Braddock Road to ride the Metro Rail to Arlington National Cemetery (http://www.arlingtoncemetery.org/). The kids, especially Aden and Anya, were very excited to ride on the train.
Since we had 4 kids with us, we decided not to go into downtown DC since it’s always so crowded on special occasions. So, we settled on having a picnic in a parking lot in front of the Air Force Memorial (http://www.airforcememorial.org/). The USAF Concert Band and Singing Sergeants were performing that night, also. While we were eating and waiting for the fireworks, we heard the music in the background, which was fun. We also entertained the kids with glow-in-the-dark toys and animal balloons. The fireworks started around 9 pm and we had a great view!
