David has been talking to his friend, Jose, about raising hens for eggs, but the project has never materialized. When Riot saw Hen-Side the Beltline Tour D' Coop article in the newspaper, she decided to go check them out for some ideas. There were several places to visit, but Riot could only make it to three.
The first one had a very cute chicken coop. There were some exotic hens there from Down Under: Black Austraoloprs. The owner said he got about 5 eggs 3 times a week. Riot was jealous of their garden. The owner said this was his second year and it got a lot better and easier than the first year.

This place supplements spinach and various kitchen scraps as treats for their hens. Besides providing all natural eggs, they also produce fertilizer for the compost pile.

The roaming idea is pretty good. At least they have some free time to play besides laying eggs ha?
