Rose Apple‏

Rose Apple is a common fruit in Thailand. A lot of houses have Rose Apple trees in their backyard. From the fact sheet: it is native to the East Indies and Malaya, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. It was introduced into Jamaica in 1762 and became well distributed in the West Indies and, at low elevations, from southern Mexico to Peru. The tree was planted in Florida before 1877 and later in California.

The fruit is nearly round, oval, or slightly pear-shaped, 1 1/2 to 2 in (4-5 cm) long, with smooth, thin, pale-yellow or whitish skin, sometimes pink-blushed, covering a crisp, mealy, dry to juicy layer of yellowish flesh, sweet and resembling the scent of a rose in flavor.

Anya and Aden tried eating them recently and loved it! Rummy (Riot's sister) said when there are rose apples, apples, pears, and guava fruit on a plate, they will eat rose apples first. It’s also one of David’s favorite fruits.
