Since we picked a lot of strawberries, we need to be creative when using them and waste as few as possible. Beside saving them in the freezer for smoothies and milkshakes, Riot and Anya made a strawberry pie. It was the same recipe from last year. Anya helped by putting strawberries on the top. Riot rewarded her with the mixing bowl, which she loves to lick clean.
Riot made a few jars of strawberry jam. It was her first time and it turned out pretty well. Our biggest customers had no complaints when we made them butter and jam sandwiches, so we consider it a success. Then we dried the rest of them so we can add them to cereal or eat them on trips.
