Worm Farm

** Viewer Advisory: Please do not read this section of the blog if you suffer from Scoleciphobia. **

Last weekend was very boring with rain pouring all day long. The kids had been inside all day and had been entertaining themselves with all their toys. Suddenly, Anya said, "I want to make a worm farm." We told her we'd help her but she would have to do most of it herself, which she agreed to.

First, Anya and David pealed and sliced apples for drying. Then, they went outside to collect soil (from the garden), sand (from the sandbox), and worms (since it had been raining all weekend, the worms were close to the surface and didn't require a lot of digging). David cut the tops off two plastic soda bottles and then they alternated putting sand, soil, apple peals, and sprinkles of water into the bottles until they were full. Then Anya put the worms in the bottles, one at a time. She had no problem holding them at all.

Now you have something else you can do the next time you find your family trapped in the house with nothing to do!

Love
