Our first blog: Trip to strawberry farm

Yes, it is already strawberry season! We went to Vollmer (organic) Farm to pick our yearly strawberry supply. The farm is around 25 mins from our home. They not only have strawberries, but also some fresh vegetables, home made ice cream and, in the fall, pumpkins!
The weather was so nice, clear, sunny, mild and cool. Perfect day for good pictures! .. :) … The kids had a lot of fun, especially Aden. You can see the evidence he had left on his mouth. Anya was very good at picking good strawberries this year. She only picked big red ones. Aden also wants to pick them, but he pretty much squished them. However, we did not have to worry about having bad strawberries since he ate all that he picked! Well, I have to say fresh strawberries from the field are so wonderful………………………

Since we have so many strawberries, we became very creative with how to eat them through out the week.

First: Chocolate fondue (mom we finally used your fondue set!)…..yummmmy. We did strawberry and apple fondue right after we came back from the farm. We tried to do chocolate dipped strawberries, but they did not turn out as nice as in the store.

Second: Strawberry Cheese Cake in Pie Crust (?!?). I don't know what we are supposed to call it, but it was so good. Gade got the recipe from her friend – I recommend it.
BTW, our food critic (a.k.a. Aden) gave his signature approval when he said "ummm, Ar-Roi” (means delicious in Thai)…:D

Here is the recipe:
CoolWipe 8oz
Cream cheese 8 oz
Sugar 1/3 cup
Strawberry slice as much as you want
Pie crust (pre-made crust)

Mix CoolWhip, cream cheese and sugar together. Put it in the pie crust then put sliced strawberries on top. Put it in the refrigerator and eat it when cold.

Third: Strawberry short cake. I got the recipe online and it turned out better than I thought. We had it with ice cream, which made it more special.

Forth: Smoothie. We got the recipe from our friend, Tippy (she saw Starbucks make it one time). The recipe is frozen banana and strawberries, then add apple juice. You don't need ice at all. Yummy!

We still have a lot of strawberries in the freezer. Please feel free to provide us any strawberry recipes. We have the whole summer to go!

Seems like all of you had a good time at the farm. Now that you have all that strawberry, when will you share that with everybody?
